Black Machhapuchhare Begins To Be Covered With Snow Snowfall has occurred in and around Machhapuchhre in Kaski. After the first snowfall of the year, Machhapuchhre, which has turned into a black stone, has started to be covered with snow. After the snowfall, the mountain ranges including Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Dhaulagiri started to turn white.
Snowfall has occurred in the highlands of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna, and Madi rural municipality in Kaski. Tourism entrepreneurs in Tangting Krapudanda, Madi rural municipality in Kaski are happy after the first snowfall of the year. They are excited because many tourists are coming from Pokhara after the snowfall.
“Although it used to snow earlier, it is a little lighter now. It used to be a little thicker now,” Khem Gurung, a tourism entrepreneur in Krapudanda, told Online News. “No matter what, it snows. After this, many guests come from Pokhara, and it is easier for us.” According to him, Krapudanda is still experiencing light snowfall.
The lack of snowfall until mid-December has led to a significant reduction in the amount of snow in the surrounding mountain ranges, including Machhapuchhre. Environmentalists have been expressing concern about the mountain ranges becoming black stones due to the lack of snowfall. They say that there is not enough snowfall and rainfall due to climate change.
Due to snowfall in the highlands, various places in Pokhara have received rain including hail. Due to the rainfall along with the snowfall, Kaski is currently feeling cold.
The 3-day weather forecast issued by the Meteorological Forecasting Division this morning also showed the possibility of partly to generally cloudy weather in the mountainous areas of Gandaki with the possibility of light snowfall in some places. The division has mentioned that the weather will clear up in Gandaki from tomorrow.
