TikTok CEO Approaches Elon Musk To Avoid US Sanctions Chinese short video streaming platform TikTok CEO Xu Ji Chu has consulted with Elon Musk on US matters, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.
Musk played a key role in helping Donald Trump win the presidency as the 47th president of the United States. Trump has pledged to appoint Musk as the head of a new agency, the Department of Government Efficiency, during his term.
According to the Wall Street Journal, TikTok CEO Chew sent Musk a message. CEO Chew sought Musk’s opinion on a variety of issues, from the incoming administration to potential technology policy.
Neither Chew nor Musk have discussed any specific ways to operate TikTok in the US. ByteDance’s senior leadership team is optimistic that Trump will take positive steps for TikTok.
However, his efforts were not successful. Later, when he became a presidential candidate, he took TikTok positively. He also used this platform extensively for campaigning. Before the election, Trump was making statements saying that he would not ban TikTok after being elected president.
However, the new chairman of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chosen by President Trump may be bad news for TikTok. Chairman Brendan Carr has claimed that TikTok poses a serious and unacceptable threat to US national security. Therefore, he has been emphasizing that it should be banned.
It is also said that he is close to the new FCC chairman, Elon Musk. Therefore, Musk is considered an important person regarding the ban on TikTok.
