Apple Is Buying The Popular Photo Editing App ‘Pixelmeter’ Apple will buy the popular photo editing app Pixelmator. Pixelmator informed about this in its blog and said that this move can expand its reach to a larger number of users.
In the agreement with Apple, it is mentioned that there will be no immediate major changes in Pixelmator Pro, Pixelmator for iOS, and Photomator apps. Further details of the agreement have not been disclosed. It is said that this acquisition process will be approved soon.
Pixelmator is a Lithuanian company founded in 2007. In recent years it has been competing with Adobe Photoshop for apps like Pixelmator and Pixelmator Pro. It has also created a photo editing app called Photometer.
Apple has repeatedly prioritized Pixelmator apps while releasing its products. In 2018, Apple gave Pixelmator Pro the honour of ‘Mac App of the Year’ and highly appreciated its effective use of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Apple usually does not buy large companies like other big companies in Silicon Valley. It often buys smaller companies and tries incorporating their technology or teams into its products. Both Pixelmator and Apple have not disclosed the price of the transaction.
This week, Apple released the first version of its photo editing capabilities, Apple Intelligence, which uses AI to remove people or objects from photos.
