This story symbolises the loyalty, virtue and endurance of the dog, which is revered by worshipping the dog.
Kalabhairava, a fierce form of Lord Shiva, is depicted alongside a dog. Bhairav is considered the protector of justice, and the dog accompanying him is also considered a symbol of religion and justice.
There is also an astrological belief that dogs’ service reduces the pain caused by the planets Rahu and Ketu. Even today, dogs protect people, and their loyalty cannot be denied. A pet dog plays an important role in protecting, warning, and helping the owner in times of crisis.
Due to these religious, mythological and cultural reasons, the dog festival is celebrated, in which the dog is worshipped and its contribution is appreciated.
