From Today No Need To Carry A Driving License: The Nagarik App Will Do Everything From today, there is no need to carry a physical driver’s license. This arrangement started with the recognition of the digital license of the citizen app by the Bagmati state government.
Earlier on October 18, the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport provided special smartphones (devices) for license scanning to the traffic police. “We have asked for 1,000 smartphones at the initial stage,” Traffic Police spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravin Karki said while talking to Tekpana, “Now we have received some devices. It will be fully implemented after all devices are available. We are adopting technology.”
If the traffic rules are violated, the police will issue a ticket through the app. Passengers can then pay the fine instantly through a digital wallet like eSeva or Khalti. If you don’t have a digital wallet, you can request payment by sending the chit number to someone.
If the fine is not paid, the QR code will not be displayed in the app. If the QR code is not visible, it means that the license fine has not been paid. Similarly, Police Deputy Superintendent Karki informed that if there is a violation of the driving rules, the class should be taken online. “Now it has started in Kathmandu Valley,” he said, “slowly this system will start all over Nepal.”
Similarly, in the case of users who do not use the citizen app, they will have to show their physical license. In case of violation of traffic rules, the police will take the license. The driver has to go to the relevant office to get the license. He informed me that since not all drivers use smartphones, it will take some time for the digital license system to be fully implemented.
