Meta Firing Employees From WhatsApp And Instagram Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has started firing employees from various departments of WhatsApp, Instagram and Reality Lab. The international media Verge published a report and brought out the issue that Meta is going to cut staff.
Instead of firing a large number of employees at once, the company has started firing employees from different departments at different stages. Some of Meta’s employees posted on social media threads and informed that they were fired.
“Today some teams at Meta are making some changes to ensure resources align with their long-term strategic goals and location strategy,” Meta spokesperson Dave Arnold told The Verge. He said that decisions may include transferring some employees to different departments, giving new roles or removing them.
The company had started cutting staff from Reality Lab since the beginning of this year. Meta fired 11,000 employees at once in 2022. Mark Zuckerberg, the company’s CEO, has announced that an additional 10,000 employees will be cut by 2023.
