A Separate Police Unit Will Be Formed For The Protection Of Intellectual Property In Nepal Intellectual property police will be formed for to protection of intellectual property in Nepal. In the draft of the Copyright Act, of 2081, such a provision regarding intellectual property has been proposed for the first time.
In Section 13 (4) of Chapter 2 of the Act, it is mentioned that the government can form the Intellectual Property (IP) Police as per the need. It is also written that the intellectual property bench can be formed separately as per the need.
People in the know have been saying that many problems have arisen due to the lack of a strong body to deal with cases related to intellectual property. If the new system is implemented, it is expected that it will help in the protection of the creator’s creation.
The Intellectual Property Police as a special unit will stop the production and distribution of fake and stolen materials, and in case of violation of intellectual property laws such as trademarks, and copyrights, will conduct raids and further investigations.
