Suraj Tamang was training 26 players of the Far West women’s football team at the All-Star Football Academy in Dhangadhi from July 9. But after the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) made a rule that the coach should have a B license, the Sudurpaschim Football Association took Dinesh Lama Yonjan as a coach from Kathmandu on August 9.
The players were angry after the change of coach and Sudurpaschim Football Association said that only 18 players would be taken to Kathmandu in the first phase.
The players say that the coach came at the last moment, changed them, tried to select them again because everyone had to be taken to Kathmandu, and the players were not given the necessary materials.
Captain Anjali Chand said, “We had to give the kit, boots, and kit needed for the keeper.” He wants to go to Kathmandu tomorrow (Friday). They have come today and called us selection again. The coach has changed at the last minute.
Sudurpaschim Football Association President Shrestha left the meeting on Thursday and returned to Kathmandu after a dispute arose while he was in Kathmandu for the ANFA working committee meeting.
Vice President Khem Bahadur Rawat said that there was no discipline among the players. “Now our women players are completely lost. They are busy asking us administrative questions rather than playing,” said Vice President Rawat.
According to him, the players have been training for a month at the coordinator Raghavendra Karki’s academy. Vice President Rawat, who is also the coordinator of Karki and women’s football, is handling the managerial aspect.
Captain Anjali said that the general things that should be done for the players were not done, on the contrary, the president tried to threaten them.
“The president used words to threaten us. We do not know why we are going to select players from other provinces who have already played the selection, but we are going to re-select them,” she said.
