Grand Rath Yatra Is Being Taken Out Today In Biratnagar Radhakrishna’s Rath Yatra is being taken out in Biratnagar today. Every year, thousands of people participate in the Ratha Yatra, which is held in Biratnagar on the day after Shri Krishna Janmashtami.
The Rath Yatra, which started with the Khatyatra in 1988, has been celebrated as the Rath Yatra Festival from the year 2025. The 93rd edition of the Rath Yatra with the couple of Radhakrishna will depart from the Radhakrishna Temple located in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-1 and will circle the market and reach the temple again. The Rath Yatra, which will be taken out from the Radhakrishna Temple premises, will pass through Tinpaini, Main Road, Traffic Chowk, Rodshesh Chowk, Mahendra Chowk, Dharan Road, Bargachi and reach the temple premises again.
The pagoda-style chariot used in the journey is 22 feet long, 14 feet wide, and 18 feet high. There will be 75-foot-long sticks and 9 ropes extending right and left from the front of the chariot. Devotees are fighting to pull the rope.
A large number of Nepalese and armed police are ready to be mobilized during the Rath Yatra to prevent any untoward incident and for security. It is said that the Ratha Yatra commemorates Krishna as he used the chariot in the Mahabharata battle.
Morang Police said that a large number of policemen in uniform and plain clothes will be deployed during the Rath Yatra with a security plan. A large number of police will be mobilized even in plain clothes to prevent acts like theft, robbery, and pickpocketing in crowded areas.
The police have asked people not to wear valuable jewelry, not to bring valuables, and to be alert and watchful when coming to crowded places. Superintendent of Morang Police Navraj Karki has said that all three security agencies will work to make the Ratha Yatra safe and fearless.
