Murder Case Against Former Prime Minister Hasina In Bangladesh Court A week ago, 76-year-old Hasina fled to neighboring India by helicopter. He is still in India. At the dramatic end of his long tenure, protesters staged massive protests on the streets of Dhaka.
More than 450 people were killed in the demonstration. Lawyer Mamun Mia, who brought the case on behalf of private citizens, said, ‘A case has been registered against Sheikh Hasina and six others.’
According to him, the Metropolitan Court had ordered the police to accept the ‘murder case against the accused persons’. This was the first step in a criminal investigation under Bangladeshi law.
The names of Hasina’s former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan and General Secretary of Hasina’s Awami League Party Obaidul Qadir have also been included in the case filed by Mia in the court. It also contains the names of four top police officers appointed by the Hasina government. They have been dismissed from their posts.
In that case, seven people have been held responsible for the death of a grocery store owner. On July 19, the police shot him dead while violently suppressing the protests.
