Nagpanchami Festival Is Being Celebrated Today The Nagpanchami festival is being celebrated today by worshiping snakes according to tradition. This festival is celebrated every year on the fifth day of Shravan Shukla.
There is a popular belief that snakes, snakes, and scorpions will not harm your home if you worship the snake and hang a picture of the snake on the main door of the house throughout the year. Also, it is believed that one can avoid the fear of fire, clouds, and lightning.
Even though there are twelve names of Nagas, there has been a tradition of worshiping eight Nagas of eight classes since the Vedic Sanatana times. On this day, images of eight snakes, namely Ananta, Vasuki, Padma, Mahapadma, Takshak, Kulir, Karkat, and Shankha, are worshiped by Brahmin priests and hung on the door of the house.
On this day, after hanging pictures of snakes in the house, it is believed that one should not dig in the fields and one should not kill snakes, snakes, and other reptiles.
The crowd of serpent worshippers
Today, Nagpokhari and Toudah in Kathmandu, Siddhapokhari in Bhaktapur, and Nagdah, Kund, and Nag places all over the country are thronged by worshippers. Cow’s milk, Akshata, Dubo, Kheer, Roti, and other dishes are offered and eaten as Prasad after worshiping the serpent.
Scientifically, it is believed that because snakes and snakes exploit poisonous substances in nature and prevent the effects of poisonous substances on humans and other species, sages have established the ritual of worshiping snakes. The festive season begins with Nagpanchami.
