5G Test in Nepal: After A Year And A Half Even after a year and a half since Nepal Telecom started testing the 5G network, the results have been found to be zero. As the latest generation of mobile service, when 5G service is implemented in various countries, there has been a nominal test in Nepal.
Telecom started internal testing of 5G in Kathmandu in Magh 2079 on the occasion of its 19th anniversary. During this period, 5G devices have been installed, and internal tests have been carried out at Telecom offices in Babarmahal, Sundhara, Pokhara, and Birganj. But Telecom itself is not satisfied with the test results.
Telecom, which was originally set up for testing, has now failed to manage the project, showing issues such as importing equipment and various technical choices and a lack of resources.
Telecom spokesperson Kishore Kumar Bhatt admitted that due to a lack of sufficient investment, the test could not give concrete results. “We have tested 5V at four locations. “There is a plan to test it in other parts of the country, but due to insufficient investment, the results could not be given,” he said.
In Sharwan 2078, the regulatory Nepal Telecommunication Authority provided 60 MHz frequency free of charge under the 2600 MHz band to Nepal Telecom to test 5G so that even the general public can use it for free. But Telecom has been conducting internal technical tests with limited BTS without public testing, so there is no clear blueprint for expanding the 5G network.
