The National Identity Card and Registration Department has prepared to introduce such a system targeting customers who temporarily need a physical card.
The director general of the department, Yuvraj Katel, informed that arrangements are being made so that people with national identity card numbers can get a digital copy and print it. “It doesn’t have to be a physical card; a virtual card can also be used,” Katel told Tekpana.
Now the computer engineer of the department, who is working on data storage for the temporary card printing system, E. Ram Thapa, informed. “The card that is printed and given to the general public has a special significance,” E. Thapa said. “This system is coming so that a temporary card can be printed as proof until the national identity card is obtained.”
Stating that the system has been prepared and the data processing is now underway, he informed me that within the next three weeks, the system will be started so that the card can be printed by itself. “We have more than one and a half million data points. We will complete all the processing in three weeks and hand it over to the public,” he said.
According to him, such a card will have the same details as the real card. This facility can be availed of by the service users who need time to get an official national ID card printed and temporarily need proof of card.
