Rain Overnight Across The Country: Floods In Kathmandu Valley It has rained all over the country during the last 12 hours. Especially in many places of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces and a few places in Far West and Karnali provinces, there has been light to moderate rain.
According to the Department of Water and Meteorology, there has been heavy to very heavy rain in a few places in Madhesh, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces.
According to the department, the highest rainfall occurred in Shaktikhor center of Chitwan. There is a record of 137 millimeters of rain measured by the department. The next highest rainfall was 127 mm recorded at Manekhark in Sindhupalchok.
Although it rained overnight in Kathmandu, the sun has been shining since this morning. According to the department, Dhap Dam in Kathmandu has received the highest rainfall of 107 mm. The next highest rainfall was 90.4 mm recorded in Budhanilkanth.
Due to moderate to heavy rainfall in most of the rain-measuring centers of Kathmandu Valley, the flood level in rivers and streams has reached the danger level. Therefore, the department sent an SMS and published a notice on social media, requesting them not to travel on the road along the river bank and to exercise vigilance till 10 am today.
It is seen that the flood level is decreasing at the Gaurighat flood measuring center of the Bagmati River. According to the Flood Forecasting Division of the Department of Water and Meteorology, the flood in the Kamala River of Sindhuli is also decreasing.
The department has requested to exercise vigilance in a few places of Koshi, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces and one or two places in Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces as there is still the possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in those areas.
