AI Chatbots Like ChatGPT, Gemini Can Leak Your Privacy: How To Protect It

AI Chatbots Like ChatGPT, Gemini Can Leak Your Privacy: How To Protect It AI chatbots like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Copilot are also answering some sensitive and serious questions. It seems that those tools are only talking to ‘me’.

However, from the point of view of privacy, those conversations are open. Some experts say that even the conversations of ordinary citizens with chatbots will be used for the development of AI models.

In simple terms, there is no privacy in the conversation with those AI tools. However, just because there is no privacy does not mean that the tool itself is not used. Today we are discussing some of the ways to protect privacy at AI tool:

Talk without opening an account

This is a very common method. But it is also effective. This is because the tool does not collect enough of your personal information. Now most AI tools can be used without opening an account.

You can run various other AI tools from the LMSYS chatbot arena. However, there are some disadvantages to running an AI chatbot without opening an account. As the conversations with the tool are not recorded. In addition, you cannot use some features.

Acceptance of conditions even after opening an account

When you create an account in an AI tool, it is not good from the point of view of privacy to open an account in an AI chatbot through a third party such as Google, or Facebook. Because in this case, you are sharing different information with the tool-making company at the same time. This means, do not open an account using the ‘Sign with’ Google, or Facebook option as much as possible.

Instead, you can open an account from your Gmail account without revealing many details. However, you should keep a strong passport. Similarly, after opening an account in this way, you can delete your previous conversations.

For example, this feature is available in OpenAI’s ChatGPT. In addition to this, this chatbot also has incognito mode. Which is a bit safer way too. Similarly, if you use the paid version of this chatbot, the feature called ‘Memory’ will not be available. Which in itself is a good feature in terms of privacy.

If you turn off the automatic data-sharing feature from the phone or browser, the chatbot will not be used continuously. However, if there is a phone app, it is constantly accessing location, photo, microphone, and camera. Is such access really needed? Especially not. That’s why you can turn off the unnecessary access that the app takes.

For this, go to Settings>Apps>Access>Off on iPhone.

On Android, click Settings>Apps>Permissions>Allow. In the browser, you can check the permission through the settings.

Don’t share sensitive things

The more information an AI tool has, the more information it can provide about you. By doing this, you can provide anonymous information about yourself.

But doing so is dangerous in itself from the point of view of privacy. Although AI will understand about you, do not share personal information as much as possible. Because AI tools are stored on a server.

That is, they are online. As you know, nothing on the internet is safe or private. In addition, some AI tools have real people watching your conversations to improve their capabilities. That in itself is unimaginable.
