When we conducted a sample survey at Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu University, Pokhara University, and Purvanchal University, we found that most of the universities did not prioritize social media.
Lok Prasad Dhakal, information officer at Pokhara University, said that the account was not activated because it was difficult to manage. He says that now they are only posting university activities on their Facebook page.
“Despite running a Facebook page, we have not been able to cover the activities of various departments and affiliated colleges under the university,” he said. Although social media is a means of improving the image of the university to the general public, he admitted that they are failing at it.
Kathmandu University has placed its logo on a blue background in profile pictures to identify the entire page. In addition, the website also has links to social networks.
Tribhuvan University, Pokhara University, and Purvanchal University seem weak in social media management. Bhim Bahadur Shrestha, information officer at Tribhuvan University, said that such a situation was created due to the lack of a specific policy for social media. He mentioned that this matter will be given priority in the coming days.
