India Beat South Africa To Win The T20 World Cup Title India won the ICC T-20 World Cup 2024 final by defeating South Africa by 7 runs. India won the T20 World Cup for the first time since 2007.
Chasing a winning target of 177 runs, South Africa scored 169 runs, losing 8 wickets in 20 overs. Henrik Klaasen of South Africa scored 52 runs in 27 balls with 2 fours and 5 sixes but could not avoid defeat.
At one point, South Africa needed 30 runs off the last 30 balls. India made a dramatic comeback in the game after Hardik Pandya caught Heinrich Klaasen out on the first ball of the 17th over. 16 runs were needed on the last six balls. Hardik Pandya’s chances of victory ended after Miller Suryakumar Yadav took an excellent catch on the boundary.
When he got out, South Africa were 70-3 in 8.5 overs. India’s Jasprit Bumrah took 2 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Hardik Pandya took 3 wickets for 20 runs in 3 overs. Arshdeep Singh took 2 wickets, and Akshar Patel took 1 wicket.
Before that, India, which won the toss and chose to bat first, scored 176 runs in 20 overs, losing seven wickets. Opener Virat Kohli scored 76 runs off 59 balls with six fours and two sixes.
