Biratnagar Slums Submerged Due to heavy rains, various wards of Biratnagar Metropolitan City of Morang have been inundated. Biratnagar Metropolitan City Ward No. 5, 6, 11, and 12 have been flooded. The lives of the locals have been affected after the water entered the houses there.
Ward president Hiralal Kamat said that various areas including the developed settlements of Biratnagar 12 have been affected. He said that preparations are being made to move those affected by flooding to a safe place.
According to Santosh Neupane, Ward President of Ward No. 5, due to the rain since morning, Vishal Chowk, Yakkan Chowk, Prithvi Chowk, and many other places have been submerged in water. According to Chairman Newpan, more than 300 Sarvasardhan houses have been flooded.
The water that fell around Rajwanshi Chowk of Biratnagar Metropolitan City Ward No. 4 has also entered the slums.
He said that schools and community buildings within the ward have been kept in readiness to accommodate the flood victims.
The police said that there was no flood in the settlement, but the rainwater was not able to drain and it was submerged. The Munalpath section of the Koshi highway is also inundated due to a lack of drainage.
In the last 24 hours, 95 mm of rain has been measured at Haraincha station in Morang and 38.6 mm at Letang.
Almost 34 mm of rain in one hour in Govindabasti of Chitwan
The highest rainfall in one hour was recorded at Govinda Basti station in Chitwan. 33.8 mm of rain has been measured there. 23.2 mm of rain has fallen in Kalyanpur of Chitwan.
After Govindabasti, the highest rainfall has occurred in Danda of Nawalparasi. 27.2 mm of rain has been recorded there in one hour.
21.2 mm in Gaushala in Mahottari, 18.8 in Lampatan in Pokhara, 11.6 in Shantipur in Kanchanpur, and 11.4 mm in Pekarnas station in Solukhumbu in one hour.
