TikTok Has Sent A Letter To Nepal For The Seventh Time To Open The Ban TikTok has sent a letter to the government of Nepal for the seventh time to lift the ban. On May 17, the company sent a letter to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachand’ and again requested to open Tiktok.
TikTok has complained that despite repeated requests to the Nepalese government to lift the ban, there has been no response. In the letter sent by Ferdos Mottakin, Head of Policy and Government Relations for South Asia, it is mentioned that the company has been continuously trying to lift the ban for the past eight months and has sent letters seven times.
“It is disappointing that our proposal to find a solution has not been accepted even though we have been continuously engaged with the Nepal government,” the letter sent to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology states, “This ban has a negative economic impact on their (Nepalese users’) daily lives. We have no doubt that you are aware of the voice of the people that is rising every day. This ban has also caused a huge loss to the government’s revenue.“
Through the letter, the company has requested to help Nepal achieve its long-term goals by lifting the ban on TikTok as soon as possible.
On that date, a single bench of Justice Vinod Sharma ruled that the interim order would not be issued and issued a show cause order in the name of the government. After that, two hearing dates were fixed on the 19th of Magsir and the 27th of Magsir, but it was kept as “not sent to see” without any hearing.
Then, at once, the hearing date was set for five months later, i.e. 27 Baisakh 2081. But the court bench did not sit on that day and there was no debate on this issue. On the contrary, a new hearing date has been set for Ashoj 10, 2081, pushing it for another five months.
