What To Do If You Lose Your National Identity Card Whether it is to make a passport or to do other government work, the national identity card is now mandatory. According to the National Identity Card and Registration Department, the National Identity Card is a multi-use certificate of national identity based on smart card technology with electronic chip and security containing personal and biological details of citizens.
To make a national identity card, a person who has obtained Nepali citizenship should go to the district administration office or the area administration office where the national identity card details registration station is located and register the details. Similarly, you can register your details during your ward’s National Identity Card details registration campaign.
Apart from this, citizens can register their details online, go to the relevant agency, and fill in their biometric details to obtain a national identity card.
Before getting your National Identity Card, you will be given a letter with your number and details via mobile SMS. Until the card is received, the letter works like a national identity card.
But sometimes the national identity number and letter can be lost. Then you can follow the following procedure:
First of all, you can get information by calling or texting the following number:
Contact Number: 01-4200014, 01-4211563 and 01-4200894
Whatsapp (message only): 9847346412, 9851300520 and 9851316034
If this is not done, you can find your identity card number by going to the website ‘Citizen Portal’ prepared by the department. For that, go to Check Your NIN from Citizenship Details (Check Your NIN from Citizenship Details) on the left side and search by entering your citizenship details. From this portal, you can also learn the status of the number and identity card printing.
The above method is useful if you have forgotten your ID number.
Suppose the printed national identity card is lost, destroyed, damaged, unusable, or unusable for any reason. In that case, you must submit an application to the relevant district administration office or Elaka administration office where the registration station details are located, along with the reason. After that, the authorities will check the records and provide you with a copy of the National Identity Card.
