During the ongoing elections in Pakistan: Mobile services are suspended across the country Pakistan shut down mobile phone services nationwide on Thursday, election day. The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Pakistan has taken such a decision to maintain law and order. “It has been decided to temporarily shut down mobile services nationwide,” the ministry’s spokesperson said in a statement.
 
While voting for the central and provincial assemblies is going on in all the polling stations across Pakistan, AFP journalists in the capital, Islamabad, have not been able to access the mobile internet since 8:00 a.m.
 
Posting on X, Pakistan Tharik-e-Insaf (PTI) said, “The illegitimate, fascist government of Pakistan has shut down cell phone services across Pakistan on polling day. We request that you all remove your personal WiFi account passwords to challenge this cowardly move. May everyone around us have access to the Internet on this very important day. We are all in this together, and together we will in.”
