Tiktok has been banned with consideration in Nepal. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda has said that he does not want to curtail citizens’ freedom of thought and expression by banning social media.
In a discussion with the editors at the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers offices on Monday, he said that there is no plan to ban social networks other than Tik Tok.
If Tiktok is closed, there is a suspicion that other social networks will also be closed; let’s not do that, he said. “The government is clear and committed to the freedom of opinion and expression of citizens.” There is no intention to shrink it; the government cannot even think of it.
Even the leaders of the ruling party pointed out problems such as family disharmony, quarrels, and depression and suggested that it was time to think about ticketing and take a decision.
Recently, the government gave in-principle approval to draft some bills related to the communication sector.
Prime Minister Prachanda, while sending a written reply to the Supreme Court on the petition against the ban on Tiktok, commented that Tiktok has spread diseases and epidemics in Nepali society.
On Tuesday, around a dozen writ petitions against the government’s decision to ban Tiktok are being heard simultaneously in the Supreme Court.
As the government of Nepal, Tiktok ban was good from their side. Some of Tiktoker said, “A lot of economic crises were decreasing in Nepal, but the government was unable to handle this economy.
On my side, the government of the prime minister was good, but some cases will be handled by the Supreme Court to get a finalized tiktok ban or not. A large number of users will go to see Tiktok side to make society affected to see there.
A lot of users will be spending time over there. But they aren’t doing well over there. I hope Ban Tiktok never comes back to Nepal. The Nepalese government discus was a good thing to do.
