This Friday, Meta filed a lawsuit to cancel the monopoly claim imposed by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC). This was seen in the documents submitted by Meta.
In that document, it is mentioned that in 2021 alone, Instagram will earn 32.4 billion dollars from advertising. Which is 27 percent of Meta’s total income. But in the same year, YouTube earned only 28.8 billion dollars. In addition, YouTube gives up to 55 percent of the advertising money to the creator of the video.
Although Instagram also gives money to Creat, it is very little. As a result, Instagram spent more money on advertising than YouTube.
Similarly, in 2020 and 2019, Instagram earned 22 and 17.9 billion dollars respectively from advertising. On the other hand, YouTube’s income in those years was 19.7 and 15.1 billion dollars, respectively. This has made it clear how much difference there is in advertising on these two platforms.
According to Bloomberg, in the first six months of 2022, Instagram’s revenue has increased further. And it is mentioned that it is gradually increasing. Although these data are not recent, it can be assumed that the situation is almost the same now. In this case, Meta has reached the court to remove the charges against him.
