Google agrees to pay $6 billion in compensation for tracking users in incognito mode. Google has agreed to pay five billion dollars (more than 6 trillion 65 billion rupees) in the case of tracking Chrome browser users. Last Thursday, Google agreed to pay a large sum of money to settle the privacy issue.
The lawsuit was filed in 2020, alleging that the incognito mode in the Chrome browser was misleading users. Google says that Incognito mode will always be secure and privacy-focused.
Claiming that millions of users were affected by this, the demand was made that Google compensate the victims. However, the judge has yet to approve the deal. The insider has written that a decision on this agreement can be made by next February.
Similarly, by 2023, the third-party cookie that stores user data in the Chrome browser will be closed. But still, Google is still delaying removing third-party cookies, as The Verge mentioned.
Most of the users were using the incognito mode to further unwanted activity and were seen over there. Even Google Chrome will be tied to the feature added over there.
Even the people will be using the third party’s cookies for activities happening there. Even the third site was running in incognito mode in Google Chrome.
