Goddess Skandamata Is Worshipped On The Fifth Day Of Navratri 2025: This Is The worship method Today. On the fifth day of Navratri, the Hindu festival of Dashain, is dedicated to Goddess Skandamata.
She is called Skanda on the fifth day of Navratri because she always holds the child form of Lord Skanda Kumar Kartikeya in her arms and gives him loving affection.
Similarly, the goddess of knowledge and action is known as Skanda Mata. Since she is the presiding goddess of the solar system, her complexion is said to be as radiant as the sun.
It is described that she is seated on a lion in a lotus position, with her upper right hand embracing Skanda Kumar Kartikeya, her lower left hand holding a lotus flower, and her upper hand holding a Brahma mudra.
During Navratri, devotees throng the Shaktipeeths across the country to worship and have darshan. This year, the Shaktipeeths in the Kathmandu Valley have been specially decorated. Shaktipeeths, including Naxal Bhagwati, Maiti Devi, Kalikasthan, Bhadrakali and others, are seen decorated with Diwali lights.
Skanda Mata’s worship method
First of all, the idol of Skanda Mata should be installed in a wooden square. Then, the square should be purified with Ganga water or cow urine. A silver, copper or earthen pot should be filled with water in the square, and an urn should be installed in it. In that square, Shri Ganesha, Varuna, Navagraha, Shodash Matrika (16 goddesses), Sapta Ghrit Matrika (with seven vermilion smears) should also be installed.
After doing the invocation, asana, padya, argha, achaman, bath, clothes, good luck sutra, sandalwood, vermilion, oil, belapatra, jewellery, floral necklace, scented liquid, incense, lamp, offering, fruit, paan, dakshina, aarti, pradakshina, mantra pushpanjali, etc., the puja is completed.
