ChatGPT Claims To Have Saved Lives By Detecting Rare Diseases A man has claimed that an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot called ChatGPT saved his life by detecting a rare disease. He says the chatbot detected his condition before doctors could, saving his kidneys from serious damage.
Sharing his experience on Reddit, he said, “ChatGPT saved my life. About a week ago, I decided to exercise. Even though I didn’t exercise much, I started feeling like I had been hit by a bus after that workout.”
He said he had only done a few pushups, squats and planks, but had drunk too much coffee and was dehydrated. After feeling unwell for two days, he decided to seek help from ChatGPT. The chatbot analyzed his symptoms diagnosed him with ‘moderate to severe rhabdomyolysis’ and advised him to go to the hospital immediately.
After further investigation, he assumed the chatbot was right and went to the hospital. “When I was tested at the hospital, I was diagnosed with severe rhabdomyolysis. In this condition, muscles break down quickly and the protein causes the kidneys to shut down,” he said.
Rhabdomyolysis is a rare muscle injury where muscles break down due to injury or excessive exercise. The man was immediately hospitalized and kept under observation for a week.

The person said he was impressed by ChatGPT’s capabilities. “I’ve heard that ChatGPT has saved lives. But I never thought I’d be one of them. Thanks, ChatGPT,” he wrote.
Other users on Reddit have also shared their experiences praising the AI. One user said, “A recent study found that ChatGPT was more helpful and empathetic than a doctor in diagnosing and communicating with patients.”
Another user said, “ChatGPT has also saved my cat’s life. The vet wanted to euthanize my cat because he had a blood clot in his leg. I put all the symptoms into ChatGPT until the lab report came. It said to check for high blood pressure. In fact, he had high blood pressure, not a blood clot in his leg.”
