Sale Of 8000 Chyangra From Mustang In Dashain For this year’s Dasai festival, eight 8,000 lambs have been released from Mustang. Four thousand eight hundred sheep reared by Mustang farmers and three thousand two hundred sheep brought from Dolpa and Mugu were sold in different districts and cities, according to the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Expert Center Mustang.
Lalmani Aryal, the chief veterinarian of the centre, said that the sale of lamb has increased this year compared to the past due to increased production and reduced prices. “The work of sending the chickens to the market after the health examination that started from the day of the reduction was completed on Tuesday,” he said, “The farmers have sold the chickens at the rate of Rs. 28,000 to 37,000 per head according to the weight.”
Aryal, head of the centre, said that according to the Sardar price, the farmers of Mustang, Dolpa and Mugu have sold sheep worth Rs. 264 million. Five hundred sheep (Chalu) and seven thousand five hundred Changra have been sold. Mustang lambs are being sold in cities such as Myagdi, Kaski, Parbat, Baglung, and Kathmandu.
Trader Tsi Chhewang Gurung said that the sale of changra has increased this year as compared to last year. “Last year, we bought Changra at a price of more than 40,000 rupees per cow, this year we bought it from farmers for 30,000 to 33,000 rupees,” he said.
Last year in Kathmandu Pokhara, the price of Changra was up to Rs 55,000 per head, this year it was sold at a price less than Rs 45,000. Traders complained that Changra, brought to the market last year, was not sold because it was expensive.
50,000 chickens have been reared in Baragung Mukti Kshetra, Gharpazhong, Loghekar Damodarkund and Lomanthang Rural Municipality of Mustang. Dindup Gurung, a farmer of Loghekar Damodarkund rural municipality-4 Yara, said that the main source of income for the farmers of Upper Mustang is shrimp farming.
According to the statistics of the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Services Expert Center, 7 thousand in 2080, 6 thousand 800 in 2079, 12 thousand in 2078 and 20 to 25 thousand annually before 2076.
