Why Dashain Is One Day Later In Australia Than In Nepal In Australia, the start of Dashain is one day later than in Nepal. According to the International Almanac Decision Committee, Dashain tika falls on the 26th (October 12) in Nepal, while the tika falls on the 27th (October 13) in Australia.
Acharya Laxman Panthi, member secretary of the International Almanac Decision Committee, told Online News, “Since the Dashami date of the Vijaya Dashami festival in Australia is on the 27th of Udaya, the Tikajamra should be taken on the 27th.”
Not only Dashain but also Tihar’s Lakshmi Puja is one day later in Australia than in Nepal, according to the International Almanac Decision Committee. In Nepal, Lakshmi Puja is on October 15th, i.e., October 31st, while in Australia it is on November 16th, i.e., November 1st.
The International Almanac Decision Committee has been publishing the dates of Panchang (calendar) and Dashain tika of countries including America and Australia. The date of this year’s Dashain Tika is yet to be announced.
According to Panthi, separate sites will be released for various cities, including the capital of Australia, Canberra, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Tasmania, America, India, and others.
Last year, after the International Almanac Decision Committee published the time of Dashain Tika one day earlier than Nepal in America and Canada, there was a dispute between astronomers and theoretical astrologers.
Sunrise time base
The time of sunrise of a particular place is also considered as a basis for determining the date and time of Tika. Now in Australia, Dashami Tithi falls one day later than in Nepal; it is based on the sunrise time of the capital Canberra.
Pandit Prakash Dhodari of the Australian Nepal Hindu Society, which facilitates religious activities according to religion, culture, and tradition, says that the date of the festival will be according to religious and astrological decisions.
Member Secretary Panthi told Online News, “The sun rises in Australia on October 13 (Osoz 27th) at 6:00 and 24 minutes.” Dashami Tithi is from 9:33 minutes to 7 hours and 51 hours after sunrise. Dashain Tika is one day later than in Nepal, as it has to be taken on the same day as Dashami Tithi.
He further said, ‘Navami Tithi is around 11 o’clock at 27 p.m. during sunrise time. That is approximately 11:01 a.m. Australian time. After Navami Tithi starts at sunrise time, Dashami Tithi starts only at noon.
What is Sait? Why is it necessary?
Astrologers determine the date after consulting and discussing it with each other. Vijaya Dashami itself is considered an auspicious day. But even on that day, searching for the most appropriate moment is a time-consuming task.
Lagna is the most important when extracting sait. Lagna refers to the moment when the planet is at its strongest. Therefore, when extracting Sait, it is measured at what time all nine planets reach their strongest position. The method of measuring the strength of the planets is called Navamsa.
Based on Navamsa, the time when the planet is considered to be in a strong state is called Uttam Sait.
He said that practicality should also be looked at for vaccination. “If it is not good if you apply it as soon as possible, it does not matter if you look at your practicality and get vaccinated,” Dr. Koirala says. “If you have to leave the house early for work, it doesn’t matter if you apply the vaccine before or after the evening.” Because this is the offering of Shaktiswarupa Devi Bhagwati.
