iPhone 16 Series Is Not Officially Coming To Nepal The iPhone 16 series has started to be sold illegally in the Nepali market. Last Friday, the iPhone 16, which is available in 58 countries of the world, including India, was being bought and sold illegally in the Nepalese market.
The iPhone 16 has been openly promoted on the online marketplaces ‘Hamro Bazaar.com’ and TiktTk. It is claimed that the iPhone 16 will be available in Nepal from an account named ‘Electronics Store’ for one lakh 32 thousand rupees in our market.
It has not been released in Nepal yet, but it has arrived with us,” said a businessman from an electronics store. “We have it in stock. However, the VAT bill will not come.” He said his shop is in front of the New Road Tamrakar Complex. Also, he said that he only has the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro Max now but promised to provide the 16 Plus and 16 Pro soon if they are booked.
In our market, the account named ‘TechTrend Accessories’ is also advertised as providing iPhone 16 at the same price. “If you want other models of the iPhone 16, you can get them,” said a representative of Tech Trend Accessories.
They say that the phone will be made available before it goes public, so it will be somewhat expensive. They argued that even if they did not receive a VAT bill while purchasing the phone, it would not make any difference.
The government does not register phones entering Nepal illegally in the Mobile Device Management System (MDMS). Registration cannot be done without a VAT bill. However, it seems that the phone salesman is tempting the customer by saying that there is no difference.
However, Bhimsaria expressed concern about the problems faced by the customers and the revenue lost by the government as the phones started being available in the market illegally. “Government should stop this,” said Bhimsaria Tekpana. Customers also have to face many problems while using illegal phones after paying lakhs of rupees.”
He said that, especially since the phone is not registered in MDMS, the phone will not have SIM support at any time. Even if you sell the phone secondhand without a VAT bill, there is a possibility that you will not get the corresponding price.
He suggested buying the iPhone 16 only with a VAT bill after it is officially available.
