Telegram Will Now Monitor Your Private Chats Telegram will now monitor users’ private chats. Telegram started adopting a new policy after its founder and CEO Pavel Durov was arrested in France for strictly following the policy of not monitoring chats.
The policy has been quietly removed from Telegram’s official FAQ page. CEO Durov has been accused of ignoring criminal activities through Telegram.
Two weeks after his arrest, Durov himself mentioned that he would increase the monitoring of Telegram content. “Due to the expansion to 950 million users, the number of criminals abusing the platform has increased”, Durov said in his statement, “which is why I personally aim to improve the platform. And this process has already started internally.”
Now it can be seen that the policy has changed on Telegram’s FAQ page as well. Earlier it was said that ‘Telegram chats are private and we do not process any requests’. Now, the sentence “All Telegram apps have ‘report’ buttons to report illegal content”.
Durov was arrested by the French police, saying that Telegram was being used for child sexual abuse content and drug trafficking and that the platform’s leadership had ignored it.
