Haritalika Teej 2024 Is Being Celebrated Today Friday Bhadra Shukla Tritiya. Women are celebrating Haritalika Tej today. On this day, women observe fasting (not even drinking water) and worship and pray to Lord Shiva. It is a religious belief that fasting on Tijm and worshiping Shiva Parvati will bring family happiness, peace and well-being, and long life for husband and wife.
It is not that only women fast on this day. There is a religious belief that both men and women can fast and worship and perform rituals of Mahadev.
It is a tradition for men and women who are fasting to go to various shrines in addition to Mahadev’s temple. After worship, they gather together and sing and dance. It is customary to eat night fare on the day before Tij. It is customary to call and feed the daughters and sisters in Maiti on the day before fasting.
They worship Mahadev by eating fruits that they cannot fast. Some do Udyapan (conclusion) of the fast in the evening, while some finish the fast only by worshiping Mahadev on Saturday morning.
Saturday is Ganesh’s Fourth Tithi. Lord Ganesha is worshiped tomorrow. Similarly, since Sunday is Rishi Panchami, women go to rivers, ponds, and pools and ritually bathe and worship Saptarishi along with Arundhati.
