How To Free Up Storage On iPhone By Deleting Duplicate Photos Mobile phones have made taking photos very simple. There is no doubt about it. However, before taking the right photo, we often end up taking many photos that look the same, which only serves to fill up the storage of the mobile phone.
Then you have to manually select and delete all of them to reduce the full storage. However, it is very easy to do this in iOS 16 and later versions.
Apple introduced the ‘duplicate detection’ feature in 2022. The job of this feature is to identify duplicates, i.e. photos that look the same as the name suggests. According to Apple, it can detect not only the correct photos but also photos with different file formats and resolutions.
How to free up storage by deleting duplicate photos on iPhone:
Go to the iPhone’s Photos app.
Click on ‘Album’ at the bottom of the screen.
Now go to the ‘Utilities’ section and select Duplicate.
Tap on ‘Select’ in the right corner of the screen. After this, you can see duplicate photos on your iPhone.
Tap ‘Select All’ to merge or delete all duplicate photos detected by the iPhone.
Now you can delete those photos at once or one by one. But, the thing to remember is that you have to sync with iCloud while doing this. Also, deleted photos will remain in the Recently Deleted album.
