Elon Musk Wants To Give People ‘Super Power’ By Placing A Neuralink Chip In The Brain Billionaire entrepreneur and founder of Neuralink, Elon Musk, has said that he wants to give people ‘superpowers’ shortly. Speaking on X’s live stream on Wednesday, Musk announced such a plan.
Musk mentioned the progress achieved so far and future plans in a live broadcast from the handle of Neuralink. Tiny wires are placed in the chip implanted in the human brain by Neuralink. Electrodes (sensors) are included in those wires. The same electrode monitors the activity of the brain and sends electrical signals to control the brain.
According to Musk, in the initial phase, the company prioritized patients with paralysis or neuro-related problems for Neuralink chip implantation.
Noland Arbaugh was the first person to implant a Neuralink chip. A chip was implanted in his brain last January. Speaking on various podcasts, Noland said that his condition is improving compared to before.
According to Musk, the work of implanting the Neuralink chip in the second person will begin in a few days. After other health problems were observed in the patient who was going to undergo chip implantation, the implant work was postponed to be completed in June.
Similarly, Neuralink has also started developing another chip. The second chip will have fewer electrodes than the first chip. According to Musk, the chip currently being used by Neuraling has 64 threads with 16 electrodes. The other device will have 128 threads and eight electrodes. Likewise, the bandwidth of the new chip will double, theoretically the second chip will be more powerful than the first chip.
In the live stream, Musk clarified that the chip does not have any negative effect on the brain. Earlier, the US Food and Drug Administration raised safety concerns. It was allowed to be tested only after some time.
It is said that a person who has implanted a chip can control electronic devices at will and do any digital work they want.
