Government Making Provision That Internet Service Provider Companies Cannot Import Bandwidth The government has drafted a telecommunications bill to prevent Internet service provider companies from importing bandwidth. In the draft bill released by the ministry on Monday for suggestions, this kind of intent was inserted in the name of not giving double permits.

In the draft of the provision of unified license for telecommunication companies for operating services including cellular mobile, Internet service, GMPCS service has been placed under general license. Apart from this, another provision of the license issued by the Act is telecommunication infrastructure service.

However, restrictive provisions have been placed in section 33 of the draft bill. Which it is said, “Despite what is written elsewhere in this Act, no telecommunication service license shall be granted to a person who has received a license for telecommunication services or a person who owns one percent or more shares in a company that has received such a license.” But in the same section, it is said that the service provider who has received the integrated license can provide all other types of telecommunication services except infrastructure.

This means that service providers who have received a general license for operating internet services will not receive a license for network services. The network service provider’s license is used to import the international bandwidth required for the Internet.

“Because there is no check and balance between network service providers and internet service providers, it seems that there is no uniformity in the internet fees and quality paid by the customers in the market,” the study committee said in its report, “Therefore, to prepare a clean competitive environment (Level Playing Field) between the internet service providers, a single organization network There is an urgent need to make arrangements so that the service provider and the internet service provider do not play a dual role.”

Under the guise of the same report, it is understood that Minister Sharma is trying to create a situation where internet service providers cannot bring bandwidth and have to depend on other companies through the Telecommunication Bill. Currently, the number of network service providers importing internet bandwidth is 23. Almost all of them have a network service provider license with some internet service provider.
