10 Billion Passwords Leaked: Didn’t Yours Fall Somewhere A hacker group has stolen about 10 billion passwords. Such a fact has been observed in research conducted by the researchers at Cyber News.
Nine billion, 948.5 million, and 75 thousand such plain text passwords have been found in a database leaked on a hacking forum. The details of the password named ‘rockyou2024.txt’ (rockyou2024.txt) were leaked by a user with the Obamacare username. It is said that this account was registered at the end of May.
An employee of the Simmons & Simmons law firm provided the database to Cyber News. In it, the passwords leaked at different times are kept in one file.
According to the researchers, the leaked passwords are a collection of passwords used by people around the world. Researchers say that hackers can use such passwords in credential-stuffing attacks.
According to Cyber News, Nepal ranks 84th among the countries targeted by cyber attacks. So far, there have been 9496 data breaches in Nepal. As a result, a total of 31 lakh, 66 thousand, and 221 accounts have been breached.
How do I avoid it now?
Passwords are not always lost because of you. Sometimes your password may have been leaked from the platform on which you have created an account. So you should be alert on time.
