Apple Introduced an Open-Source AI Model That Can Work Without the Internet Apple, which is a little behind in the AI race, has finally released a new generative AI model. Apple’s Machine Learning Research has released an LLM called ‘Open Source Efficient Language Models (OpenELM).
It is not based on a cloud server like other LLMs but can work from a device. In other words, the same chipset in the device is used for AI-related work.
Most of the current AI models rely on the cloud. Like, the instructions you give to do any work from the AI tool go to the cloud server. . The result will be the same. Now Apple’s AI model is going to work ‘on-device’.
Now Apple has made this language model available on the Hugging Face Hub. It is a kind of AI code-sharing platform.
Since Apple has made the AI model available as open source, developers can use it. Apple says that this model is great for email writing.
As this model works on devices, it is possible to use it on iPhones and Macs. In other words, Apple has given a glimpse of what its AI model will be like through this.
Apple’s announcement of its AI model is viewed with great importance as the developer conference in June approaches. Earlier there was a notification that the new version of the iPhone does not require the internet to run the AI tool.
