Tesla is Looking for Land in India to Open a Factory with an Investment of $4 Billion Electric car maker Tesla is going to open its new factory in India. According to the Financial Times, the company is preparing to send its team to India in this (April) month to find the land needed to establish a power plant for the production of electric cars.
It is said that the factory to be established in India will be ready for three billion dollars (more than 4 billion rupees). The Financial Times has written that land will be searched in Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu for the establishment of power plants. These areas are known as automotive hubs.
Lok Sabha elections will be held in India from April 19th to June 1st. This move by Tesla is expected to benefit Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his party. Modi is bringing in a plan to bring in world-famous companies that will promote local production and employment.
India’s geopolitical rival, China, has a strong influence on EVs. That is why Modi has allocated billions of dollars in government subsidies to promote emerging industries like EVs in the country.
Tesla has told Indian officials it is considering making cars smaller than current models at a proposed new factory. Its price will be less than 30 thousand dollars. The company will then sell this model in India and export it to Southeast Asia, Gulf countries, Africa, and Southern and Eastern Europe.
Apart from India, Tesla has started building its power plant in Mexico. According to various media, this plant is expected to be operational in 2026.
