Smartphones Worth 2 Billion Rupees Entered Nepal within a Month Smartphones worth about two billion rupees have been imported into Nepal in the month of February alone. According to the data released recently by the Customs Department, smartphones worth a total of one billion 994 million rupees were imported from abroad in the month of Falgun.
In this month, a total of 122,734 phones of all brands have been imported into Nepal. According to the department, in the first eight months of the current fiscal year 2080–81 (from Shrawan to Magh), 12,49,481 smartphones worth more than 19,377,770,000 rupees were imported, which is more than the same period of the year 2079–80.
In the first eight months of last year, 1 million, 94 thousand, 889 smartphones worth 16 billion, 600 million rupees were imported.
In Nepal, most mobile phones have been imported from the neighboring country, China. A total of 18,024 smartphones worth 13 billion to 29 billion rupees have been imported from China alone till the end of Falgun.
Similarly, India is the country that imports the second-most mobile phones. Three lakh, 27 thousand, and 560 smartphones worth five billion, 748 million rupees have been imported from India.
