A police team deputed from the Cyber Bureau arrested him on Tuesday following a complaint of character assassination of a woman on social media. Bureau spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Pashupati Kumar Rai confirmed the arrest of Mahato.

“We made an arrest this morning after the victim woman filed a complaint,” Rai told Tekpana, “the rest will come out after the investigation.” Earlier, Mahato, who was arrested for character assassination of a woman, was released on bail.
