Nepal’s Internet due to debt Iceland’s plea with Indian provider to cut the line The Internet Service Providers Association of Nepal (ISPAN) has requested the international bandwidth supplier Indian upstream service provider not to cut the line. Internet providers, who have not been able to send payments for the past 9 months due to the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology’s approval, requested that the Internet not be shut down, even if it is for a few days, on Monday.
After not being able to get payment for bandwidth for a long time, Indian upstream providers had warned that they would stop providing internet bandwidth if they did not receive payment by 31st December (Sunday 15th). However, the ministry has stopped the foreign currency exchange facility of the service providers, citing the reason for the disputed balance and arrears.
In a letter written by ISPAN, a representative organization of Internet service providers in Nepal, to the upstream service provider, it is said, “We are aware of the letter sent to the Internet service provider in Nepal saying that the upstream service provider is unable to provide bandwidth unless payment is made by 31st December.
As the payment of the bandwidth could not be made due to the lack of approval of foreign currency, ISPAN has mentioned that the impending crisis has arisen from the agencies of the Nepalese government.
“The joint delegation of Spain that reached the ministry on December 13 informed us about the existing situation along with the decisions made by the judiciary and the legislature and requested to provide the facility of accepting foreign currency,” the letter further states.
ISPAAN and its member companies have been proactively taking initiatives to solve the problem among related stakeholders, upstream providers, ministries, authorities, and other government agencies to prevent Nepal’s internet service from being blocked.
“Therefore, we are waiting for a decision from the Ministry of Communications as soon as possible to resolve this urgent issue.” It has been mentioned in the letter that the internet service provider and ISPAN are committed to providing internet service without interruption 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and that they are concerned about the issue of the customer in this situation.
Moving forward with this unusual situation and the efforts being made by the government, ISPAN has requested that the internet service and bandwidth not be cut and the payment limit be increased even if it is for a short time.
Regarding the letter sent by ISPAN, no response has been received from the Indian upstream service provider till the time of preparing this news, according to ISPAN sources. “The deadline they gave for payment has already passed on Sunday night,” said one of the members of ISPAAN.
Whether or not the internet in Nepal is down depends entirely on the Indian upstream provider.” Nepali has taken internet service from India. People using the internet have also done it. With the help of the Internet, Nepali people have also settled in the work of Dharai. If there was no Internet in Nepal, how would it be? Internet service has made it easy for everyone in Nepal.
If the internet is going to be cut off in Nepal, everyone would have to call their company. They also keep queries on their phones. But there is no internet in Nepal. It is also easy if there are people in Nepal.
