What Is Tamu Losar?
Tamu Losar (also spelt Tamu Lhosar) is the New Year festival of the Gurung (Tamu) community in Nepal. It marks the beginning of the new year in the Tamu Sambat (Gurung calendar) and is one of the most important cultural celebrations for Gurung people.

“Lho” means “year” and “Sar” means “new,” so Losar literally means “new year.”
