Things To Consider When Buying A Second-Hand iPhone Sometimes we like to use the most popular phones in the market. But, whether due to lack of money or because of a fear of how the phone will be after spending a lot of money, there is a kind of fear in our mind.
Even the reviews of those phones on the internet cannot be said to be 100% accurate. In such a situation, we try to buy a used or second-hand phone.
Many of us are iPhone lovers. Whether it is because of its camera, privacy and security, or some other features, we are attracted to the iPhone.
If you are buying a second-hand iPhone from someone, there are some important things you need to know about it. In some cases, the seller may be asking a high price for the phone because it has not been used much.
So, if you pay attention to the points given below, you will not regret buying a second-hand iPhone. First of all, get detailed information about the iPhone on the Internet.
If you think that the iPhone is suitable for you, then ask for the phone you are going to buy for some time. Then test it like this.
Go to the iPhone settings. Go to General and look at the model number. The model number has a combination of two letters and numbers before the slash (/), such as MO 3J/A.
The letters attached to the numbers have many meanings. The letter ‘J’ in it indicates that the phone was made in Japan. Similarly, there are many other letters such as AB indicating that the phone was made in Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, UAE, and AM indicating that the phone was made in the US and assembled in Vietnam.
Similarly, BR indicates that the phone is manufactured and assembled in Brazil, while BZ indicates that the iPhone is manufactured in Brazil and assembled in China. Or you can see this list to be even clearer.
The same model number has two letters in front of it. The first letter in it indicates whether the phone is new, old or in what condition. If the first letter starts with M, then the phone is new.
Similarly, the letter F (F) means that the phone has been repaired. N (N) means that the phone was replaced when it was sent for service, and P (P) means that the iPhone was made and bought in your name.
If you pay attention to these things, you can buy the iPhone according to the condition it is in.
Keep these things in mind
1. Phone price
Find out when the second-hand phone you are buying was released and what its current price is. Sometimes the price of a second-hand phone may be around its new model or the difference is very small.
2. Phone Accessories
Also check whether the accessories that come with the phone, including the charger adapter, USB cable, earphones, etc., are working properly. It is also important to check whether data is being transferred via the USB cable.
3. Check the external condition of the phone
Check the external condition of the phone. Check whether the display, body, camera and buttons of the phone are working properly. Pay attention to whether there are large scratches, dents or cracks on the screen.
4. Reset the phone
Reset the iPhone two or three times before inserting the SIM into the phone. If there is any pre-installed app or any bug or virus on the phone, this will remove it.
After the phone is turned on, also pay attention to how well the mobile network is receiving.
5. Check the display and camera
When the phone is turned on, first of all, touch all parts of the phone’s screen. You can check this by playing a game on the phone if possible.
This will tell you how effective the phone’s display is. Also, check the rear and front cameras of the phone properly.
Also consider whether the quality of the photos clicked from it is correct or not. Now check by calling from your phone. Consider whether the phone is receiving network and sound properly.
6. Connectivity and battery backup
Keep track of how long it takes for the phone to fully charge and how long its battery lasts. Also, don’t forget to check the connectivity features of the phone. Similarly, check the iPhone’s battery health by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging. A phone with a battery that holds a charge of at least 80% is considered good.
7. Bill and IMEI
Don’t forget to check the invoice bill of the second-hand iPhone you are buying. The person selling the phone may say that the bill has been lost.
If the mobile is stolen or lost, you may unnecessarily get into trouble with the police. So, don’t forget to take the old bill when buying a second-hand mobile. Check whether the phone has a bill or warranty card. You can also check the iPhone’s warranty by visiting Apple’s official website.
You can find out the IMEI number of your phone by dialing *#06# on your mobile. Make sure that the IMEI number on your bill and the IMEI number on your mobile are the same.
8. Check if iCloud Lock is off
When buying a second-hand iPhone, check if “Find My iPhone” is turned off. If iCloud Lock is not turned off, you cannot log in to your new Apple ID on your phone.
9. Check network and SIM support
Check if the phone is unlocked so that you can use any network SIM card. You can check by going to Settings > About Phone > Carrier Lock.
10. Check if the internal parts of the phone are original
Some people sell old phones by replacing the internal parts. So, go to Settings > General > About > Parts and Service History and check if there are any replaced parts.
11. Don’t forget to check all the functions and hardware
Camera – Does it work well when taking photos?
Speaker and microphone – Does the sound come out well when making phone calls?
Face ID or Touch ID – Does it work properly when unlocking?
Charging port – Does it charge properly when plugged in?
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth – Does it connect to the network easily?
12. Where/from whom to buy an iPhone?
There is a high chance of being scammed when buying a phone online or from an unknown person. It is better to buy only from a trusted showroom or an authorized reseller.
