On the second day of the Chhath festival, one chak is eaten without salt. On the day of Kartik Shukla Chaturthi, the main fasting ritual of Chhath begins after taking a bath and eating a meal. Anil Singh of Guhyeshwari Gaurighat Chhath Pooja Samiti Guhyeshwari said that on the main day of this festival, on the day of Kartik Shukla Shasthi, there is a ritual of fasting and worshipping the setting sun in the evening. The main day of this festival is Thursday 22nd of Kartik.
It is a religious belief that if you worship the Sun properly and offer Arghya on the Kartik Shukla side, you will not get skin diseases.
Guhyeshwari in the capital, Gaurighat area, Kamalpokhari and other river banks including Wagmati, Nakhkhu and Bishnumati have been decorated for the Chhath festival.
