How About A 2-Hour Long Nepali Film Shot With An iPhone 14 Pro Max The Nepali movie ‘A Place Under the Sun’ shot by iPhone 14 Pro Max has been premiered. A special screening of this film was held at CDC Cinemas in CTC Mall, Sundhara, on Friday.
Directed by Jason Lopchan, this film is one hour and 55 minutes long. The film, made under the banner of One Squad Film, is based on the ‘Crime’ genre. The film tells the story of three young people who meet in childhood and the characters that come after. Today, we review how the film is technically rather than its story:
How was the film shot?
Director Lopchan says that American film director Steven Soderberg, after learning that he shot high-quality films with devices like iPhone 6 and 7, was influenced by him and made the film with this concept.
He says that he shot the film with an iPhone because it had to be made on a limited budget. This film has been shot in different places in Kathmandu and Chitwan.
He says that the film was shot in 18 days, and the post-production took about six months more. He says that apart from the pre-built camera that comes with the iPhone, other materials such as the zoom lens, Andy filter, and prime lens that are compatible with the iPhone have been purchased for the film.
How is the iPhone 14 Pro Max camera?
Now, let’s talk about the iPhone 14 Pro Max used for filming. This is the best model of the iPhone 14 series, released in 2022. A triple-camera setup can be found in this model. Out of which, the main camera is 48 megapixels, telephoto 12 megapixels, and ultrawide 12 megapixels.
Its main camera uses quad-pixel technology. As a result, Apple claims to take excellent photos even in low light. Similarly, the app also used optical image stabilization in order not to shake while taking photos/videos.

Somewhere, the colors of the scene seem dull. The film also has night scenes. The director has done something clever in that. Due to this, the camera captured the night scene well.
Maybe because the external lens is used, the subject is well-focused. However, because it is out of focus, the scene feels a bit blurry. Maybe it’s because of the big screen.
Similarly, the audio of the film could have been better. At least you can feel that way while watching the movie. However, according to director Lopchan, the dubbing of the film was done in the studio.
By the way, this effort of Lopchan, who studied ‘Film Studies’ at Oscar College, is new in the Nepali film industry. This film, which is ready to hit the theaters soon, is a film that does not make a difference.
