Action Movies Are Being Made In Nepal: How Did The Attraction Increase The teaser of the movie ‘Ravayan’ was released only on Friday. The teaser of the Sudarshan Thapa-directed film has prioritized action scenes. From this, it can be assumed that this film is action-oriented.
Earlier, the teaser of ‘Out Law: Section 219’ was released giving preference to action. It includes action sequences of actor Sushil Shrestha.
‘Ravayan’ is slated to release on August 21 and ‘Out Law: Chapter 219’ on October 3.
The action-packed film ‘Danvi’ was released last month. Actress Pooja Sharma gave an action scene for the first time. Although the film did not do well, it received buzz.
Similarly, ‘Agastya’, starring Saugat Malla and Nazir Hussain, also had plenty of action scenes.
In the last decade, action films have become less and less. Many films were made with stories of comedy, love, family, and society. Films without action scenes also became the audience’s choice. This sequence continues.
However, in the meantime, action films are slowly being made. Footsteps action scenes have found their way into films of other genres as well.
Viraj Bhatt’s film ’12 Village’ is an action-packed film. South Indian film action choreographer has worked in it. The film will be released on Dasain, the teaser of which is ready to be released in a few days.
Similarly, Santosh Sen’s production and direction ‘Balidan’ is also action-packed. The filming is set to start in a few days. Its action choreography is being collaborated by conflict directors from South India and Nepal.
Director Diwakar Bhattarai is preparing to make a new film in the action-thriller genre. Actor Rajesh Hamal has been offered for this film.
Actress Priyanka Karki has also said that she is ready to make an action-thriller film.
Director Sourav Chaudhary, who made the action film ‘Agastya: Chapter-1 last year, has announced the adventure action film ‘Karma’.
Looking at it like this, it is almost certain that there will be around a dozen action films. It is seen that action-oriented films have started to get priority again in Nepal.
Himal KC, who has been active in conflict management for more than a decade and a half, agrees with this.
Now he is working on one film after another. He has recently completed the work of ‘Var and Badhu’ and is set to work in ‘Hostel 3’, ‘Labor’, ‘Mayaka Rangharoo’ and ‘Balidan’.
He says that recently there has been an atmosphere of action films worldwide and Nepali producers and directors are also attracted to it. He believes that Nepali producers-directors are attracted to it, especially since Indian action films do good business in Nepal.
‘The new artist created a different identity. Like when Dayahangji is presented in a full-action film, it seems that the audience will not like it. Because the audience has been seeing him as a simple and realistic character,’ KC, who has directed more than a hundred films, said, ‘The same is true for those who have made their identity through love stories. The way the artist introduced himself in the beginning, the audience likes it accordingly.’
As such artists started working in different genres of films with time, it seems that the acceptance of the audience is increasing.
Director Saurabh Chaudhary says that action is his favorite genre, so he gives priority to his films. In his new films ‘Karma’ and ‘Agastya: Chapter 2’, he is preparing for a different type of action.
“Whatever story I am telling, it is better to bring it from the action itself,” he said.
He says that the cost of making an action film in Nepal is one and a half times higher than normal and there is a risk when the audience is also low. But foreign action films are making good money in the Nepali market, so the possibility has also increased, he said.
If a film does good business, there is a wave of making twenty similar films. The problem is this,’ said Bhatt, ‘and even if there are good actors in other genres, the producer may not think it is suitable when thinking about action.’
According to him, action is more complicated than others and requires good preparation. Having two or three ‘fight scenes’ is not considered an action film and it cannot win the hearts of the audience. Most importantly, the content should be strong. He says that just like in the story, the audience should connect with the character in the action and work hard on this.
He thinks that some of the action films that have come in between are not working because of the lack of effort in the subject matter.
‘Action film market is always there,’ he said, ‘Foreign action films earn crores of rupees from the Nepali market. Viewers are not getting good Nepali action films and are getting entertainment from foreign films. Therefore, films of every genre should be made. The film industry is not complete without the action genre.’
