India’s Airtel Cut The Link and Nepal’s Internet Service Was Affected It has been found that Nepal’s internet service has been shut down due to Indian upstream service provider Airtel cutting the link. The Internet service of major service providers in Nepal was suddenly affected at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
The operators of Internet service providers, on condition of anonymity, told Tekpana that it was India’s upstream provider Airtel that cut off the Internet. On Wednesday, Airtel wrote to various service providers and warned that internet service may be interrupted at any time due to the long-term non-receipt of payment.
A few days ago, the joint organization of Internet service providers, Aispan, held a press conference on the same issue and informed that the situation may be shut down.
Airtel and other upstream providers have been making similar requests through correspondence made at different times. The government has stopped the foreign currency recommendation of internet service providers due to the issue of disputed arrears. Because of this, service providers have not been able to pay international bandwidth to Indian upstream service providers like Airtel, Tata, etc. for the past year.
In a post on social media, Worldlink said that the upstream service provider had cut the international link due to non-payment. “Internet service providers in Nepal have not been able to send payments to upstream service providers due to a lack of foreign currency recommendations from the Nepali government,” the company’s post said.
Similarly, another internet service provider, Vianet, has also stated that there is a problem with the internet service due to international bandwidth providers through social media. “Because of this, the services of most ISPs in Nepal have been affected,” the company said, “and efforts to resolve this problem are ongoing.”
