Most Internet Services in Nepal Are Down

Most Internet Services in Nepal Are Down Most of the Internet services in Nepal have suddenly gone down. The network of major internet service providers such as Worldlink, Vianet, Subisu, and others will be running slowly starting at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

According to the owner of an internet service provider, it is suspected that the Indian upstream service provider company Airtel may have cut the link due to a problem with the service. “Although this matter has not been confirmed,” he said in a conversation with Tekpana.

The government has stopped the foreign currency recommendation of internet service providers due to the issue of disputed arrears. Because of this, service providers have not been able to pay international bandwidth to Indian upstream service providers like Airtel, Tata, etc. for the past year.

Moreover, Airtel and other upstream service providers have repeatedly warned Nepali Internet service providers that they will cut the Internet link if they do not receive payment. It is said that the main international bandwidth network has been cut, and a limited amount of bandwidth is coming from the auxiliary network.

Due to this, there is a concern that the systems of the service providers may be completely down due to the increase in congestion in the network. A few days ago, during a press conference organized by the internet service provider, Vinay Bohora, the founder of Vianet, said that the total amount to be received by the Indian upstream provider is estimated at three billion rupees.

The representatives of the service providers said that efforts are being made to immediately restore the interrupted internet service.
