Microsoft Tried to Sell the Bing Search Engine to Apple The fact that Microsoft tried to sell the search engine ‘Bing’ to Apple in 2018 has come out. This fact was found in a document from the US Department of Justice that was released last Friday.
According to CNBC, the US Department of Justice filed a lawsuit last month in court alleging that Google has a monopoly in the web search engine industry. Google responded by saying that Microsoft wanted to sell Bing in 2018.
In the case sent to the court by Google, it is mentioned that Microsoft has repeatedly offered Apple to make Bing the default search engine in Safari. According to Google, Microsoft offered to buy Apple in 2009, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, and 2020. However, Apple refused to buy Bing because it was not of good quality.
“Apple has concluded that between Google and Bing, Google is ahead in terms of quality. Similarly, Google is the top choice for Safari users. Yes, this is the competition,” Google said.
Similarly, in 2018, Bing requested that Microsoft collaborate with Apple to improve the quality of Bing. According to Google, Microsoft’s main goal was to sell Bing to Apple or establish a joint venture with Bing.
These two companies have collaborated to make Google the default search engine in Apple’s Safari. For this, Google paid Apple 26 billion dollars in 2021, according to CNBC.
