Dunki Box Office Collection Day 1 with consecutive hits, Pathaan and Jawan, is likely to register his lowest opening of the year with the Rajkumar Hirani film. It arrived in cinema halls on Thursday amid much fanfare. The first show of the Rajkumar Hirani film in India was at 5:55 am at Mumbai’s iconic single-screen theater Gaiety Galaxy, and as the visuals from the cinema hall went viral on the internet, it looked nothing less than a celebration.
In the morning shows, the film recorded an occupancy of 26.45%, and the afternoon shows had an occupancy of 21.77%. The overall Hindi occupancy of the movie was around 24.11%. It needs to be noted that the SRK starrer has arrived in cinemas on a working weekday.
Before its opening day, the movie had already done a business of Rs 35.23 crore from the sale of 16,83,871 tickets. While his film Pathaan, as per Sacnilk.com, minted ₹57 crore on day one, Jawan earned ₹89.5 crore on the first day of its release.
The opening day figures make it the least successful Shah Rukh film of the year, but the opening is still bigger than those delivered by Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs 15.81 crore), Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs 15.73 crore), Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (Rs 11.1 crore), and Dream Girl 2 (Rs 10.69 crore).
On Thursday, Dunki saw an overall occupancy of 29.94%. The NCR region had 1412 shows with approximately 31% occupancy, and Mumbai had 1081 shows, which saw an occupancy of around 29.75%. Dunki had a solo release on Thursday.
