TikTok Founder Zhang Yiming Became China’s Richest Man As TikTok’s popularity grows worldwide, Zhang Yiming, co-founder of its parent company ByteDance, has become China’s richest man. According to the list of rich people recently published by Harun Research Institute, Zhang achieved this feat for the first time.
He has become the 18th richest person in China in the 26 years since the start of the ‘Harun China Rich List’. His total wealth has reached 49.3 billion dollars, which is 43 per cent more than in 2023.
According to the latest list of Forbes, he has surpassed the old famous businessmen like Jack Ma, the founder of Alibaba, and Pony Ma, the chairman of Tencent.
Although 41-year-old Yiming resigned from the company in 2021, he still has a 20 per cent stake.
Despite facing pressure in some countries including America, ByteDance has increased its profit by 60 percent this year compared to last year. This helped to increase Yiming’s personal wealth.
Zhang founded ByteDance in 2012. The company’s main product is TikTok, which is known as Douyin in China. This app has established its own identity around the world.
